The new 80-cm telescope has been successfully installed at Rozhen NAO

On December 2, 2025, specialists from the Austrian company ASA Astrosysteme GmbH installed the 80-cm telescope ASA800 RC f6.85/f2.5, purchased for the needs of Rozhen NAO, in the repaired and renewed dome of the old 60-cm telescope. Currently, the 80-cm telescope is being equipped with the computing and observation equipment necessary for its operation: computer and software (MaximDL) for controlling the telescope, filters, CCD camera. Initially, the filters and CCD camera of the old 60-cm telescope will be installed, and subsequently it is assumed that new filters (including polarization ones) and CCD camera will be purchased.

All activities related to the purchase, installation and commissioning of the telescope are funded by the Ministry of Science and Education within the framework of the National Roadmap for Scientific Infrastructure (2020-2027), the object of which is the Regional Astronomical Center for Research and Education (RACIO) consortium.
