During the period of July-August 2026, a renewal of the aluminum reflective layer (aluminization) of the primary mirror of the 2-meter telescope at the Rozhen NAO was carried out. The aluminization itself was performed by the German company -4H-JENA engineering GmbH using the specification CZ303 (Al + MgF). The transport of the mirror to and from Germany was executed by the company Discordia AD.

The disassembly of the mirror began on July 13, and it arrived in Jena on July 21. Following the aluminization in Jena, the mirror started its return journey on August 10, and its installation was completed on August 21. Observations with the 2-meter telescope resumed on August 22 in accordance with the approved schedule.

All activities related to the installation/disassembly, transport, and aluminization of the 2-meter mirror are funded by the Ministry of Science and Education within the framework of the National Roadmap for Research Infrastructure (2020-2027), the object of which is the Regional Astronomical Center for Research and Education (RACIO) consortium.
