The Andor iKon-XL large-format CCD camera successfully passed operational tests

The large-format CCD camera Andor iKon-XL 231 BEX2 Deep Cooled (with a chip size of 4096×4108 pixels), intended for use in the Nesmith focus of the 1.5-m telescope at NAO Rozhen, successfully passed all operational tests “on site” stipulated in the relevant contract. The camera was delivered to Bulgaria on March 19, 2026, and on March 20 − to NAO Rozhen. Initial tests with cooling down to −60°C were carried out on April 29. These tests showed the need for correction in the parameters of the external cooler used with the camera. On May 28, after the delivery of a new cooler, the final tests of the camera were carried out, which showed its operability.
