In the period September 5-7, 2025, a solemn celebration of the 50th
anniversary of the Smolyan Planetarium was held in the city of Smolyan.
As part of the festive program dedicated to the anniversary, a National Scientific Conference “Astronomical Centers in Bulgaria” was held. At the conference, Prof. B. Mihov, Acting Director of the Institute of Astronomy and NAO at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, delivered a report on the topic Rozhen National Astronomical Observatory – development and prospects. The report provided a historical overview of the development of the observational equipment at the observatory.
Special attention was paid to the prospects for the future development of the Rozhen NAO within the framework of the implementation of the work and financial plans of the RACIO and LOFAR-BG consortia, objects of the National Roadmap for Research Infrastructure 2020-2027 at the Ministry of Education and Science.
